Green River Intra-county Transit System
Serving the Green River are counties of Daviess, Hancock, Henderson,
McLean, Ohio, Webster and Union, GRITS is committed to providing paratransit
services.
Transportation services remains one of the key components to enable elderly,
and disabled citizens access to hosts of needed services. GRITS has become an essential
part of the community making over 100,000 trips per year providing access to physician
care, hospital care, employment, child care, grocery stores, and other qualified services.
Most riders receive services through contracts held with other agencies and programs.

Empower Kentucky Human Services Transportation Agency
In 1999, GRITS became the broker for a wide range of transportation services
under the Empower Kentucky designation. This designation denotes a multi-
Cabinet collaborative service. GRITS brokers and provides new and expanded
transportation services in the Green River area for the four Kentucky Cabinets
of Families and Children, Health Services, Transporation, and Workforce Development.

Handicapped Accessible
Individuals certified as disabled are a significant clientele for GRITS. Most
GRITS vehicles are wheel chair equipped. Under contract with the City of Owensboro,
GRITS provides those who are physically challenged transportation for the Owensboro
Transit System (OTS). Services under contract with OTS operate from 6:00 a.m., to
6:00 p.m., six days a week (every day except Sunday). For a service summary, please
