Counseling Services

This department consists of Family Preservation, Family Reunification, and "F.A.C.T.S.". The Counseling Services Department also alministers the agency's Community Services programs.

Family Preservation Program. The Family Preservation Program (FPP) works with distressed families on the verge of losing children, by state action, from the family unit. All served families come to FPP on referral from the Kentucky Department for Community Based Services, Department for Health and Families, to restore stability, safety and functional family life.

After receiving a referral from Community Based Services, the program's therapists work in the home to help families become more stable. During the intervention, therapists help the family set goals, provide concrete services, teach skills, set up and meet medical and social services appointments, make contacts for long term services, and encourages the families.

Famies And Children Together Safely (F.A.C.T.S.) is similar to Family Preservation and Family Reunification, but for families who meet certain financial need requirements.

Family Reunification Program. As the program's name implies, the Family Reunification Program (FRP), which primarily serves the two urbanized Green River Area counties (Daviess and Henderson), works with DCBS to return children to their families after they have been removed from the home, but also after the family has regained greater stability, better family functioning and the safety of the child(ren) can be assured.
