About GRITS
The Green River Intra-county Transit System (GRITS) provides clean, safe, and reliable public transportation at no or low cost. Medicaid eligible clients without vehicles are provided transportation to approved Medicaid appointments without cost. Para-transit services are provided and a fee-per-mile service is available to the general public.
Green River Intra-county Transit Systems (GRITS) has been providing non-emergency transportation for over thirty (30) years. Services are available to anyone in the general public for any purpose. Contact your local office for information.

destinations outside of Region 3 service area.

Guidelines
GRITS will not deny anyone transportation services
because of their race, color, creed, national origin,
sex, age, or disability.
When using GRITS, all passengers are subject to the
following rules and regulations:
· In an effort to limit hold times, reservations are limited to 3 trips per call. Please plan your scheduling accordingly.
· Passengers shall not engage in any disruptive or violent behavior nor use abusive language.
· Passengers shall not carry flammable liquids, weapons
or explosive devices on the bus.
· No Smoking, Eating, or Drinking.
· All passengers shall use seat belts.
· No alcoholic beverages or illegal substances are permitted
on buses.
· No pets, except for Service Animals, are permitted
on the bus unless they are placed in a kennel or other
device suitable for transportation.
· Passengers shall not disturb, distract, harass, alarm,
or annoy bus driver or other passengers while bus is
in motion.
· Passengers shall not engage in conversation with bus
driver while bus is in motion.
Drivers
Driver’s Shall Adhere to the Following:
· Be properly licensed in Kentucky
· Be courteous, patient and helpful
· Have less than 2 traffic convictions in 3 years
· No convictions for drugs or alcohol in 5 years
· No sexual or violent crime convictions
· Have a pre-employment drug test
· Receive orientation and safety training
GRITS Bike Rental
· Renter must read and sign the release and indemnification
agreement.
· Renter must provide a driver’s license, one driver’s
license per group will be sufficient as long as that
person is willing to be responsible for the entire
group, but all persons in the group must sign the
agreement and pay their respective fee.
· Bikes are due back to GRITS location by close of
business 5:00 p.m. Mon-Fri or 1:00 p.m. Sat. If a bike is not
returned by this time, the bike will be reported stolen.
· Bike Rental is $2.00 per day.
· Renter will be given a lock and combination if they
will need to lock the bike while they may be inside a
local business to shop or for lunch.
· Helmets are not required but are strongly recommended.
· Riders use the bike at their own risk according
to agreement, the agreement must be signed before
using.
