Owensboro Regional Recovery
A Path to Hope and Healing
Our Program
Founded in 2010, Owensboro Regional Recovery (ORR) is dedicated to helping Kentuckians break free from substance abuse and homelessness. As a program of Audubon Area Community Services, we provide a safe, caring environment where men can rebuild their lives through education, peer support, and structured recovery. Recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as “A Model That Works,” ORR is proud to be a proven solution for lasting change. Our goal is to provide men suffering from addiction with the tools, resources, and support they need to achieve long-term sobriety, stability, and independence. We believe recovery is more than overcoming addiction—it’s about preparing for life beyond treatment.
What We Offer
ORR is a Recovery Kentucky program modeled after Louisville’s Healing Place. Our peer-driven, residential program lasts 6–9 months and equips clients with essential life skills, education, and support for sustainable recovery.
Our comprehensive approach includes:
- Residential Care: Housing for up to 108 men, with meals, clothing, and hygiene products provided at no cost.
- Education & Life Skills: GED preparation, financial literacy, job readiness, and training for independent living.
- Structured Recovery: Motivational tracks and peer-led support systems designed to foster accountability and growth.
- Transitional Housing: Pilot programs bridge the gap between treatment and permanent housing.
Breaking the Cycle of Addiction and Homelessness
Our program prepares clients for real-world responsibilities—maintaining employment, managing finances, cooking, cleaning, and building healthy relationships. Many participants even earn their GED while in recovery. By addressing both addiction and housing instability, ORR transforms lives and strengthens communities.
Why ORR Matters
In a region where recovery and housing services are limited, ORR fills a critical gap. We serve men who are homeless or nearly homeless, often entering directly from incarceration or unstable living conditions. Our services are free of charge, ensuring that financial hardship never stands in the way of recovery.
A recent study (June 2025) showed significant improvements in mental health, employment, housing stability, and reduced substance use among our clients—proof that our model works.
